What iOS 27 changes in Apple Mail for senders

Apple released iOS 27 on Monday 14 September. Transactional email gets easier to find. Marketing email gets easier to delete.

Mail search now ranks by relevance and intent, MacRumors reports, so a search for a retailer returns the latest order before its promotions. It works on every iPhone running iOS 27. Your promotions still appear. They just queue behind the receipt.

With Siri AI, a long press on an email lets users ask Siri to summarise it, find a tracking number or delete every email from a named sender. 9to5Mac watched beta testers do exactly that to brands they considered spam. Removing a sender now takes a sentence.

Reach is limited. Siri AI is an opt-in beta, with a waitlist for some users, on iPhone 15 Pro or later, in English. It is not available in the EU on iPhone or iPad, and Apple has given no date. UK users get it.

Nothing changes for Mail Privacy Protection, categories, summaries or Branded Mail. Apple opens are still noise.

What to do: put order and tracking numbers in live text, as Apple’s order tracking guidance asks. Register sending domains in Branded Mail. Keep receipts looking like receipts. Apple has published no guidance on schema.org markup for Mail, so keep that for Gmail.
