A marketing tool used by thousands of online stores has closed its doors permanently this year.

Jilt, an email marketing platform that was purchased by GoDaddy as part of its acquisition of SkyVerge, announced that it was shutting down after nearly ten years in business to make way for a new eCommerce Email Marketing solution, that was back in June 2021.

The service shuttered its doors at the end of April this year, and as we head in to 2023 we still have not seen this new email marketing solution for woocommerce from GoDaddy.

For many businesses, Jilt was a powerful and reliable tool that allowed them to connect with their customers and generate revenue through automated emails. Over the past decade, Jilt helped many companies make hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue.

Jilt was praised for its user-friendly interface, analytics capabilities, and wide range of features that allowed users to personalize their email campaigns. In addition, the company had a helpful customer service team available to assist users with any issues they encountered along the way.

It’s no surprise so many companies relied on Jilt for their email marketing needs. However, despite its popularity and success over the years, GoDaddy has decided to shut down the service due to their now being “focused on building something new for WooCommerce stores”.

This news came as a shock to the many loyal users who had come to depend on the platform for their businesses’ success. The closure of Jilt marks the end of an era for online retailers who depended on the service for their daily operations.

The Jilt co-founder and CEO stated in their blog post in June of last year:

“Last year, our parent company was acquired by GoDaddy and we’re now putting our hearts into building something new and exciting for WooCommerce stores. While we’re no longer accepting new accounts, current customers will be able to use Jilt until the service shuts down and will continue to receive the same kind and responsive customer support until April 30, 2022.

We put together guides to help you migrate your lists, emails, and other data to other email marketing platforms including KlaviyoMailchimpMetorik, and Omnisend. We also have guides for exporting your data to use on any other platform.

In 2012, we launched Jilt to help eCommerce businesses grow with email marketing. We’re extremely proud of what our team has accomplished and honored so many brands relied on us to help them reach their customers.

While it’s hard to say goodbye, we’re excited about our next chapter at GoDaddy”

We may never know the full reason behind GoDaddy’s decision and whether there will ever be a dedicated WooCommerce email marketing solution from the GoDaddy team, but we will keep an eye on the situation and report backwith any updates.
