Halon released Halon Engage 17 on December 4, 2025. This is the latest version of its email platform, focusing on abuse prevention, operational improvements, and security updates.
What’s new:
- Abuse Guard: A new feature in Sender Shield that monitors sending behavior for early warning signs such as delivery slowdowns, high failure rates, or sudden volume spikes. It can alert operators or pause tenant traffic to protect the cluster’s reputation.
- Integrated HTTP submission and engagement tracking: Eliminates the need for a separate container, improves throughput, and supports content compression to reduce data transfer.
- OpenID Connect support: Adds modern single sign-on (SSO) for the web administration interface, simplifying authentication and integration with identity providers.
- Accessibility improvements: Updates to color contrast, text resizing, keyboard navigation, and content structure to meet WCAG and EN 301 549 standards.
- Full S/MIME support: Enables gateway-enforced email encryption and signing, including Cryptographic Message Syntax (CMS) operations like signing, verification, encryption, and decryption.
- SPF library change: Halon replaced the open-source libspf2 library with an in-house implementation.
Why it matters:
Halon Engage 17 provides operational and security improvements that help email providers detect and prevent abuse, simplify administration, improve accessibility, and support modern security standards.
