Tuta supplies email, calendars and contacts through its own web, desktop and mobile applications. Its clients are open source, and the service encrypts stored mailbox data. Messages between Tuta users are automatically encrypted end to end; encrypted exchanges with external recipients use a shared password. Ordinary external email remains a separate delivery mode.

The personal Free plan includes 1 GB of storage, one calendar and three labels. Revolutionary increases storage to 20 GB and adds extra addresses and three custom domains; Legend provides 500 GB and ten custom domains. Business plans and paid support are offered separately. Domain aliases, calendar sharing and other controls depend on the selected plan.
Tuta does not provide standard IMAP, POP3 or SMTP client access, so migration and day-to-day use centre on its applications rather than a conventional third-party mail client. Desktop import tools support mail-file migration, with availability depending on the plan. Business enquiries are directed to sales@tutao.de; free accounts are subject to deletion after more than six months without a login.
