Constant Contact, the US‑based digital marketing platform, has officially completed the acquisition of Moosend, formerly Sitecore Send from Sitecore. The deal, which closed on June 6, 2025, strengthens Constant Contact’s global expansion efforts and deepens its offering to small and mid-sized businesses across EMEA. Whilst Emailexpert congratulates all involved, there’s a touch of bittersweetness in seeing another European-founded email platform become part of a US-owned group.
Backed by Private Equity, Hungry for Growth
Constant Contact is currently privately owned by Clearlake Capital Group, a US-based private equity firm that assumed majority ownership after acquiring full control in early 2024. Previously, Constant Contact was part of a joint venture between Clearlake and Siris Capital, spun out from Endurance International Group in 2021. EIG had originally acquired Constant Contact (formerly Roving Software) when it was independent for over a billion dollars in 2015.
This acquisition of Moosend signals Clearlake’s continued commitment to scaling Constant Contact through strategic international growth and targeted product enrichment. It also positions the brand more aggressively in an increasingly competitive global email marketing landscape.
Strategic Rationale: Expanding Reach, Enhancing Product
Constant Contact CEO Frank Vella emphasized the synergy between the two platforms:
“The acquisition of Moosend represents an important investment in our global growth strategy… Moosend’s established presence in EMEA provides us with valuable access to key international markets.”
Vella also noted the appeal of Moosend’s mature white-label technology stack, which allows agencies and SaaS vendors to offer email marketing under their own brands.
“Today marks an exciting new chapter for Moosend… we’re more committed than ever to delivering world-class innovation that drives real results.”
– Moosend co-founder Panos Melissaropoulos
Operational Continuity and Integration
Under the terms of the acquisition:
- Moosend will continue to operate independently, powering Sitecore Send for Sitecore’s customers.
- It will benefit from increased investment and integration opportunities via Constant Contact’s infrastructure.
- The acquisition is expected to help accelerate Constant Contact’s white-label offerings, appealing to channel partners and resellers.
EMEA and Beyond: What It Means for the Industry
This move strengthens Constant Contact’s position in a crowded field of marketing automation vendors competing for SMBs globally. While the company has long had a strong North American footprint, its international growth has lagged behind others like Mailchimp (Intuit) and Brevo (formerly Sendinblue).
Moosend brings to the table:
- Advanced automation workflows
- Behaviour-based email triggers
- Detailed reporting and segmentation
- A well-established presence in Europe and the Middle East
By combining these capabilities with its own customer base and infrastructure, Constant Contact is preparing to deliver a more competitive hybrid product suite to a more global audience.
