Just announced: Proofpoint is buying Hornetsecurity
Interesting email security news today – Proofpoint has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Hornetsecurity. The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2025.

What’s Actually Happening Here
This looks like a continuation of market consolidation. First Hornetsecurity absorbed Vade’s AI-powered email security technology, and now Proofpoint is absorbing Hornetsecurity. Proofpoint gets better access to the MSP channel, European SMB market, and Vade’s technology stack, while Hornetsecurity gets Proofpoint’s threat intelligence and enterprise resources.
