AT&T Consumer Domains Now Deliver Through Yahoo Mail

Yahoo has completed the migration of all AT&T consumer email domains (ameritech.net, att.net, bellsouth.net, sbcglobal.net and others) onto its mail infrastructure. MX records for these domains now point to Yahoo’s servers. SpamResource, monitoring the change, noted that senders should no longer encounter AT&T‑specific blocking and should treat mail to these domains as Yahoo mail. A technical status page from WombatMail confirms that 12 of the 13 AT&T domains showed Yahoo MX records when checked on Aug 6 2025.

Why it matters (for marketers & deliverability teams):

  • Your AT&T audiences now fall under Yahoo’s sender policies and complaint thresholds.
  • Access to Yahoo’s complaint feedback loop and Sender Hub should improve troubleshooting.
  • List segmentation and engagement monitoring must account for Yahoo’s stricter spam and unsubscribe requirements.

Compliance / Action Checklist:

  • Ensure SPF, DKIM and DMARC are correctly configured and aligned to meet Yahoo’s authentication requirements.
  • Monitor spam complaints to keep rates below Yahoo’s ~0.3 % threshold; high complaint rates may lead to throttling or blocking.
  • Implement one‑click unsubscribe via the List‑Unsubscribe header to comply with Yahoo’s standards.
  • Use Yahoo’s Sender Hub to sign up for complaint feedback loops and monitor deliverability.
  • Remove any AT&T‑specific deliverability workarounds, as they are now obsolete.

Key dates:

  • Jun 24 2025: Yahoo announced upcoming MX migration (early announcement).
  • Aug 1 2025: Migration reported complete by industry observers.
  • Aug 6 2025: WombatMail status page confirmed 92 % of domains pointing to Yahoo MX records
